Ghosts and Ghouls Halloween Party Decor

Every year I want to host a Halloween party for my kids and their friends, but I don't.  My overwhelming desire to do nothing takes over and my kids are lucky to get help throwing together a too-small, last-minute Halloween costume.  Somehow I managed to get my act into gear last week and ended up making an entire set of Ghosts and Ghouls Halloween party decor.  Clearly I was avoiding something to have been cooped up in my craft room for that long.

Check it out: a banner, cupcake wraps and picks, drink wraps and labels, treat bags, and home decor.  I really went all out.  I even bought funky fabrics to stage the photo all spooky-like.  I used paper from Pebbles' Thirty-One Halloween collection and a variety of cut files from Silhouette to make the paper crafts.

DIY Ghosts and Ghouls Halloween Banner |
The whole idea for this DIY Halloween party was spawned by this banner.  I used premade banner die cuts and adhered a paper rosette medallion to each one.  I created a print and cut file for the title (FREE download here) and adhered the individual letters to the banner flags.  Since the theme was Ghosts & Ghouls, I cut an extra large ampersand and put it between the two banners.

Printable Halloween drink labels |
Spooky drink labels are my favorite during Halloween.  I found these printable drink labels in the Silhouette Online Store.  I printed the labels on sticker paper and then die cut them.  It was so fast and easy!

Ghosts and Ghouls Halloween treat bags |
I used a FREE printable Ghosts & Ghouls sentiment and premade banner flags to create a simple embellishment on a treat bag.  Air-popped popcorn is a perfect treat for a kids' party because a bottomless supply is dirt cheap.

I enlarged the same Ghosts & Ghouls sentiment to create a piece of Halloween home decor.  I die cut the sentiment, adhered it to a piece of patterned paper with foam squares, and inserted it into an 8"x8" shadow box frame.

Graveyard cupcake wraps and tombstone picks |
Make some extra spooky cupcake wraps by die cutting wrought iron fences and making tombstone cupcake picks.  I used the print and cut function with my Silhouette CAMEO to print the RIP before I die cut the tombstones.  I die cut a few ravens and adhered them to the top of a few tombstones.

Print and die cut the FREE Ghosts & Ghouls sentiment and adhered it to a paper rosette medallion to make another cute cupcake pick.

How to Make a Paper Rosette Medallion

Paper rosette medallions are easy to make and are a fun way to add dimension and texture to your paper crafted projects.  I used a rosette on each of the banner flags and used them to create cupcake picks.

How to make paper rosettes |
Start by scoring your paper every 3/8".  TIP: Score a wide strip of paper and then cut it into narrower strips so you don't have to score each individual strip.

How to make paper rosettes |
Trim your scored paper into 1" strips.  Using the score lines as a guide, fold each strip into an accordion.

Adhere the ends of the strips together, creating a single loop.

How to make paper rosettes |
Gather the rosette together and form a little tent.  Place a drop of hot glue in the center of the tent and flatten the rosette.

How to make paper rosettes |
Hold the rosette in place until the glue is completely dry.  Use rosettes on cards, paper crafts, scrapbook pages, home decor, etc.  Use them anywhere!

Now that I have the decor and treats are ready to go, will I actually get my act together and host a party?  I say the chances are 50-50.

Happy Halloween!
