Rainbow Gem Card

I had been wanting to color the gems from Waffle Flower's Gemstone Stamp set for a while when I received the Tombow dual brush pens.  The brightly colored pens were perfect for coloring the oversized gems.  Normally I am a white card base kind of gal, but I thought I'd switch things up a bit and create my card with a black card base.  I love how the bright gems jump right off of the black card.

Each of the gems was made with the gem stamps from Waffle Flower Crafts Gemstone Stamp set, Tombow Dual Brush pens, and embossing ink and powder.

I started by stamping and embossing the gems with white embossing powder.  I used the dual brush markers to color in each gem.  The heat embossed images were really forgiving as any stray ink from the markers just rolled right off.   Not a master of shading, I added a little bit of dimension by darkening part of the gems.

When I first saw these colored Tombow Adhesive Dots I kinda had a mini freak out.  In a good way.  No more losing clear dots all over the place.  After I stamped and embossed the sentiment, I used the colored dots to adhere the fussy cut gems to the card.

Initially I had planned on making an all black card, but decided to add extra color by adhering the black card front to a bright pink card base.

The pink inside of this black card is unexpected and fun.  And not to mention functional as it is much easier to write on pink than black.
