Bright Paper Pineapple Boxes

I have officially fallen in love with the pineapple trend.  While I don't yet own any t-shirts or shoes embellished with pineapples, I sure do think they are charming.  A couple of weeks ago I saw this pineapple box Silhouette cut file over on Amy Robison Designs IG feed and I was just giddy.

You know what I like better than yellow pineapples?  Pink and aqua pineapples!  Somehow pineapples become even trendier when they are bright and artsy. The shorter yellow pineapple is actually the coconut box turned instant pineapple with the addition of some leaves.

I spotted this tote at Old Navy a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't resist adding it to my shopping cart.  I loved the bright, multicolored pineapples with white leaves.  I knew immediately that this was what I wanted to recreate with the pineapple box cut file.

One easy way to customize your Silhouette cut files is by adding sketch lines.  I modified the pineapple cut file by adding some shapes and drawing them with the sketch pen function on my Silhouette CAMEO.  I simply drew a diamond and copied and pasted it all over the pineapple.  I also created an offset sketch line inside of the leaves to give them more definition and dimension.

These pineapples would make fun home d├ęcor or the world's cutest treat container.

Below are a few pictures that will give you some helpful tips and tricks when assembling your 3D pineapple and coconut boxes.

Start by folding back all of the flaps on all of the cut pieces.  It also helps to fold along the box lines as well.  After you fold back all of the flaps, apply tape runner to all of the flaps.  Yep, all of them.  You won't want to mess with trying to add adhesive to a 3D box.  It is a real pain.

Don't worry if your tape runner stick out.  Most tape runners will ball up and peel right off just by rubbing it with your fingers.

Assemble the lid first.  It is easy and will build your box making confidence.  Then adhere the two box sides together and assemble one end of the box only.  You'll want to keep the other end open so you can use both hands as you adhere the bottom of the box.  After you adhere the bottom of the box, you can adhere the tabs on the other end to complete the pineapple box.

Assemble the leafy top by gently curling the leaves outward before spiraling them together.  Use a couple of glue dots along the way to hold things together.

Adhere the leaves to the top of the pineapple box with some quick-dry liquid adhesive and you're done!  Your little pineapple box is ready to be filled with goodies!

Fluff and curls the leaves just so and you have a pretty gift or party centerpiece.

Happy Summer!
